partyIt could be the last game of the World Series, or the Super Bowl but, whatever the sporting occasion, careful planning is required to make sure everything goes off without a hitch. And, what’s more, you want this to be a memorable occasion, especially if your team is vying for glory.

Making the ultimate sports party is all about being prepared and making sure no one misses a minute of the main attraction. With that in mind, let’s run down the five things you need to do to throw the ultimate sports party.

Get A Lot of Drinks – and Then Get More

This doesn’t just mean beer and other choice alcoholic beverages – it means soda, punch and whatever else people might enjoy. Everyone has been to a party and everything’s in full swing, the atmosphere is just right and then everything grinds to a halt. Why? Because there’s nothing left to drink!

Guests will go through more bottles of soda and beer than you think, and no one wants to be the one who has to take a trip to the store. Get more drinks than you think you need, because you definitely will need them all.

Make Food that’s Quick and Easy

Something like the Super Bowl is an all-day affair. There’s pre-game, half time and all those ad breaks. This means there needs to be a rolling supply of food.

Fire up the barbeque and stick with things like burgers, sausage, chicken and maybe some steaks. These are all quick and easy to cook and can go with pre-prepared stuff like salad and baked potatoes cooked in the oven. Also keep a big supply of chips, dips and things like pretzels to hand. These keep people full without taking the chef away from the big game.

Don’t Skimp on Seating

If people want to mill around and talk, that’s cool. But also offer the option of seating and make sure there’s enough for everyone. No one is expecting the height of luxury for a back-yard cookout and game experience, but people do need somewhere to park themselves.

Put out some seating and have more ready to go, as guests will inevitably find their own preferred spots to watch the game.

Get a Pool Going for the Game

Nothing spices up a game like a little friendly wager. This doesn’t have to be a Vegas-level, sophisticated set-up. Make it simple enough so everyone can take part. A few bucks on who will score first, MVP and outcome can take a game to a whole new level and encourage some friendly rivalries while the game plays out.

Make the Experience Unique

Most people don’t get to watch big sporting events outside. And if they do, it’s usually on a last-minute setup with wires trailing everywhere and that can detract from the whole thing.

If you love nothing more than a big sporting occasion, consider having one of our outdoor TV lift cabinets in your back yard. They offer a big screen experience and sport always looks better when it’s outdoors, with a sizzling barbeque nearby.

Weatherproof and available in stone, wood and tile, our backyard TV island designs are affordable, built to last and give you the opportunity to host big sports parties right in your own backyard.
