One of the materials that you;ll see featuring in our outdoor TV cabinet designs in Cumaru Wood. This is also known as Brazilian Teak and it was carefully chosen by our design team following a painstaking search for a timber that could live up to our back yard TV island designs. We love this wonder wood and, we think you will too! Let’s find out a little more about it…

Brazilian Teak

  1. Where is Cumaru Wood actually from?

As we’ve mentioned, Cumaru Wood is also known as Brazilian Teak, so the clue is very much in the name. Cumaru Wood originates from the tropical forests of Central and South America. It is a product of the Dipteryx Odorata tree. When you look at a piece of untreated Cumaru Wood, you’ll note that in its natural state, it’s a beautiful golden, honey brown colour with a beautiful grain pattern. It’s fairly similar in appearance to traditional Teak.

  1. What can Cumaru Wood be used for?

Cumaru Wood is often used by landscapers and carpenters for decking and outdoor furniture. It’s a great choice for decks because it is naturally very durable (more on that a little later)and will last much longer, and continue to look better, than other common choices for decking, such as Cedar, Pine or Douglas Fir.

  1. Why use Cumaru Wood for an outdoor TV cabinet?

There are tons of reasons why we picked Cumaru Wood as our timber of choice for our new outdoor TV cabinet designs:

It’s beautiful so adds a great aesthetic edge to each outdoor TV cabinet it’s used for

  • It’s naturally extremely strong, making it a great choice for any type of outdoor furniture
  • It’s incredibly durable, which is important to us as we want your back yard TV cabinet to be tough, functional and long lasting
  • It’s rot and insect resistant so no matter if you live in a humid climate such as Mississippi, Louisiana or South Carolina, your cabinet will stand up to the challenge
  • It’s a hard wood, meaning it’s very tough
  • It ages gracefully and is naturally weatherproof so season after season, you can expect your outdoor TV cabinet featuring Cumaru Wood to look great
