summer movie nightThe only thing better than these warm, wonderful, long summer days we’re enjoying right now are the delightful summer nights. Brighter, warmer and seemingly the perfect reason to head outside, summer evenings are a magical time of year. If, like us, you can’t get enough of summer nights on the deck, by the pool or in the backyard, you’ll love our suggestions for enjoying a summer movie night at home.

Grab the kids, invite the family or call the neighbors round. Popcorn is an essential of course, as is one of our stylish outdoor TV lift units, so you can enjoy all of your old favorites in the wonderful open air. String up some fairy lights, grab plenty of cushions, blankets and throws and cuddle up!

Here’s our top picks to keep your summer movie marathon going week after week.

Grease

A total classic. If you’re looking for a feel good, family-friendly summer movie, Grease is the word! Starring Olivia Newton John and a young John Travolta, this timeless musical follows the students of Rydale High after summer break. Turn up the volume as there is no way you’ll be able to help singing along to hits like You’re The One That I Want and Summer Dreams.

Weekend at Bernie’s

Two salesmen are invited to stay with their boss at his luxury beach house for the weekend. It sounds too good to be true… and it is when they discover their boss, Bernie dead. We won’t spoil the plot of this screwball caper starring Jonathan Silverman and Andrew McCarthy but it’s been a late 80s classic for a generation so you’re sure to be hooked.

Back To The Future

We reckon Back To The Future is the perfect summer movie night addition thanks to a teenage Michael J Fox and that DeLorean. It was the highest grossing film of the year (1985) and a cult classic that’s spawned countless spin offs. After an experiment goes wrong, Marty is sent back to the 50s – where he must make sure his parents meet and fall in love and get back to the present day to save Doc.

Ghostbusters

A team of sacked scientists must save New York from destruction as ghosts wreak havoc on the Big Apple. It sounds ridiculous but there’s a reason this Dan Ackroyd and Bill Murray flick is one of the best of all time. A new film is currently being shot in New York City so now is the perfect time to catch up on the original before seeing the latest installment.
